CAPTAIN THOMAS HEWITT AND HANNAH PALMER

Born in England, know as Captain Thomas Hewitt because He transported goods, livestock from the Mystic River area to Europe. He left the Mystic River area May of 1662 and never return. April 26 1659 he married Hanna Palmer daughter of Walter Palmer and Rebecca Short.


Born in Stonnington, Conn. in 1662, know as Lt. Benjamin Hewitt due to his service in local militia. He was a prosperous and respected landowner and community leader. He married Marie Fanning daughter of Edmund and Ellen Fanning. Edmund escape the Irish massacre of Protestants in Ireland in 1641.

Born in Stonnington, Conn. in Sept of 1703, a farmer all his life. Married Jonna Denison,Great-great granddaughter of John Howland of the Mayflower. Joanna and Henry were also 3rd cousins twice removed. Her great-grandfather Thomas Miner was 5th great-grandfather of President Grant.

Born in N. Stonnington, Conn about 1746 know as Capt. Increase Hewitt married Elizabeth Tyler who was born in Canterburt, Conn. 15 Dec 1744. He served in the Revolution war in the militia from Brooklyn, Conn. They moved to Pomfret, Conn 1n 1789 were the lived the remainder of their years. Increase served as selectman from Pomfret 1794 and 1795.

Thomas Hewitt was born Oct 13 1773 married Elizabeth Durkee his second wife around 1803. She was born in Pomfret, Conn May 26 1773. They moved to Granville, New York where Elizabeth died Sept 11 1824. Thomas married for a third time. He passed way sometime after 1830.


James was born in Pomfret, Vermont, Nov. 2 1805. He married Philinda Smith who was born in Hebron, New York, March 1st 1813 the daughter of Caleb Smith and Rebecca Cook. They were prosperous farmers in Granville, New York. James died in New Hebron, New York, May 5 1865.

Sidney Hewitt was born in Hebron, New York July 19 1829. He married Charlotte Myler at Camden, Ohio Feb 11 1858. She died in Camden Feb 24 1906. He died in Granville, New York Nov 14 1910 and is buried with his wife in a cemetery in rural Preble county Ohio.

Edward Stanton Hewitt was born Sept. 3 1866 In Eaton, Ohio. He married Delora Layland who was born October 03, 1866. Edward died Feb. 9 1944, Delora died Feb 23 1945 both in Eaton, Ohio and are buried in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.

Cecil Ray Hewitt was born August 29, 1895 in Eaton, Ohio. He married Fanny Katherine Freitag June 27, 1916 in Eaton. Fanny katherine was born in Gratis, Ohio 1896 and died in 1990. Cecil died in 1972. Cecil was a carpenter and farming in Preble County. Both are buried in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.

Barbara Joan Hewitt was born in Eaton, Ohio, Apirl 19, 1934. On September 24, 1955 she married Allan Jenner Akehurst who was born in Queens, New York, May 24, 1929 the son of Mildred Teller Romer and Arthur Jenner Akehurst. Barbara died in Memphis, Tennessee on December 25 2002, Allan died in Summitt, New York on August 20, 1961
Thomas Jenner Akehurst was born in Jamestown, New York on Febuary 7, 1958. February 02, 1987 he married Donna Gail Varner at Lynchburg, Tennessee. Donna was born on April 9, 1966 in Rising Fawn, Georgia. They have three children.
